“No one has ever become poor by giving.”

Save the Children is a charity that exists for children. To make their world a better place. To help them learn, grow and become who they want to be. No matter where they’re growing up, they find a way to reach the children who need them the most.
On Tuesday 5th December I will be hosting a meditation where all donations will go to Save the Children for their work in warzones. You can register for this here.
As someone who feels everything so deeply, from the elderly couple sitting on the park bench, to the movie soundtrack of Disney's Up, I can't ignore the fact that there are often times when I find the world a truly unsettling place.
Anger. Hate. Greed. Poverty. War. Genocide.
Watching the news has always been difficult for me. Seeing the injustices around the world weigh heavily on me. A 5 minute segment can have me ruminating for days. I slip into a sense of hopelessness and despair towards humanity and the damage we have inflicted on this planet.
Over the years I've learned mindful techniques to stay informed of current affairs whilst managing the thoughts and emotions that arise. But still, I've always felt like there was something more that I could be doing.
I am remarkably privileged.
I grew up with a home that I knew would always be there.
I had an education.
And when I was old enough I had a choice about what that education looked like.
I had teachers who encouraged me to try new things.
I had the luxury to partake in hobbies and other interests.
I had clean flowing water.
I never worried about there being food on my table.
I never feared for my safety.
Yet, there are more than 142 million children in high-intensity conflict zones, living amidst airstrikes, bombings and daily killings. Childhoods destroyed by a war they have no say in. Living through nightmares that get more distressing by the hour.
Children have no part in starting wars, but are
victims of their violence.
Instead of concerns over what flavour ice-cream they want or who they fancy, millions of displaced children are facing hunger, disease, life changing injuries, rape, abduction and death. They are a witness to the atrocities inflicted by mankind, traumas that no-one, let alone innocent children, should have to experience.
The potential long-term emotional and psychological damage these children will suffer is truly heartbreaking.
So please join me on Tuesday 5th, December, 8pm for a 30 minute guided meditation. 100% of donations will go to Save the Children, a charity that works in the hardest to reach places where it is toughest to be a child. You can register for the event here.
Your donation (minimum £5) can help:
distribute essential supplies such as water, food, toiletries
deliver mental health and psychosocial support
set up child friendly spaces for children to play
provide warm clothes and blankets
buy medicine
establish temporary learning spaces
provide referrals for the most at-risk children
This is part of my new monthly charity series where I'll be sharing meditation, yoga, EFT, guest teachers and more. If there are any charities close to your heart that you would like to share for a future month, please let me know. I would be so grateful if you could please spread the word to friends, family and colleagues. Every little can make a huge difference.
