Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a dynamic, flexible and modern approach, that is constantly evolving to take advantage of new therapy techniques and developments in neuroscience. It is, essentially, the combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with traditional Hypnosis. It is a highly rewarding process which looks at how the way you act, feel and think colour your present experience and perception of your world.

Together we will uncover what is holding you back, your fears and limiting beliefs. With my guidance and support, you will learn how to release those parts of you that you have been causing you to dim your natural light.

Watch this short illustration which explains how Cognitive Hypnotherapy works.

This isn’t magic. Nor is it a quick or temporary fix.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy restructures your thoughts and actions. You will leave with your own personally designed toolbox of techniques and a deep-rooted trust in yourself to be able to cope in the future.

So, I’m sorry to disappoint, but I don’t own a pocket watch and will not be asking you to “look deep into my eyes”. You will not run around the room clucking like a chicken or fall asleep whenever I click my fingers… What I will do, however, is empower you with the understanding and tools you need to be the brightest and happiest you!

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is for you if you’re fully committed to making a change to your life.

  • You’re prepared to clear issues from the past

  • You’re ready to feel empowered and to learn how to tap into your inner resources and strengths

  • You’re ready to work out what the future holds

  • You’re prepared to dedicate time outside of our sessions to implement the things that you’ve learnt

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is a modern, evidence-based approach developed by recent discoveries in neuroscience. Hypno-CBT (HCBT) is the integration of social, cognitive and behavioural psychology with traditional hypnotism as well as drawing upon the most effective elements of Positive Psychology and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

HCBT tackles both destructive, ineffective behaviour and unhelpful, negative thinking patterns allowing you to feel empowered, inspired and in control of your life. After a few effective sessions of Cognitive Hypnotherapy with me, you can expect to feel energised and empowered. Not only this, but you will walk away from the treatment with a new inspired self-confidence. You'll even have your very own 'toolbox' equipped with skills that will enable to relax and practice self-hypnosis for your continued wellbeing.

“The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking” - Albert Einstein

What will it feel like?
It wouldn’t be uncommon if you, like so many others, thought that hypnosis was something unusual or out the ordinary. But the truth is, hypnosis is something we do many times during our day. A hypnotic state is a combination of two very simple steps: relaxation and focus. You know that feeling you get when you find yourself absorbed in a good book, a gripping film or profound daydreaming? Well that’s like hypnosis. If you have ever meditated, then it is very similar to that experience. Or the focus your mind and body fall into whilst you play sport could be likened to the hypnotic state.

Hypnosis is a gentle process. Although everyone’s experience will differ, most of my clients report feeling deeply relaxed and focused. You are in control and can open your eyes whenever you wanted to do so, but because your mind and body experience is so pleasantly comfortable, you simply choose not to.

If we come to a therapy session with the anticipation to reach some ‘altered’ state we will only be hindering the process. Let go of preconceived notions and expectations; come with an open mind and heart and let me guide you on this journey.

Perhaps you think that it won’t work for you or that you can’t be hypnotised. If you believe that, then it will be true. Everyone who wants to be hypnotised, can be hypnotised. It is this attitude that you will need to bring with you to every session.

Putting your needs first
You are Unique and so is your problem. As such, no two sessions are the same. Every single client is different and you will no doubt have your own set of unique requirements. That's why I use my experience with different therapeutic techniques such as hypnotherapy, CBT, applied relaxation, mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, to tailor a programme to suit your individual needs.

It's by tailoring every session to you, that we are able to work towards the long-lasting changes you desire. A lot of hypnotherapists will use the same methods and techniques on a range of their clients; unlike them, I have no set scripts and my sole aim is to ensure you get the most out of every session.

Is it safe?
Yes, Hypnotherapy is a safe, fast and effective therapeutic process, it has been approved by the British Medical Association (BMA) and the British Medical Journal (BMJ) as well as being supported by the National Health Service (NHS), for being a safe complimentary therapy that can help with a wide variety of problems.

I am a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) which implements the highest standards of training and professional ethics among all of its members. I also gained a diploma from the UK College of Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy, which is the only recognised hypnotherapy qualification for CPD by the British Psychological Society.

I had the best experience with Alexandra! Prior to this, I had never tried Cognitive Hypnotherapy, but was familiar with some of the concepts. Alexandra was the perfect guide for helping me uncover some stiction points in my childhood that spurred feelings of low self-esteem and self-worth in adulthood, and the hypnosis session was a wonderful exploration of how the alternative - feeling worthy - could feel, if I only allowed myself. Powerful stuff. Thank you Alexandra! Highly recommended!
